I Bought Sofyre Mouse Repellent So You Don’t Have To – Here’s My Brutally Honest Review

By Nora Oct22,2025

My Facebook timeline has been flooded with ads for Sofyre “peppermint-powered barrier,” “kids & pet safe,” “mice gone in days”, and after spotting chewed wires and tiny droppings in my garage, I figured: why not give it a shot? I wanted something safe and easy, but what I got didn’t quite live up to the hype.

What Is the Sofyre Mouse Repellent?

Sofyre offers rodent-repellent products such as pouches and sprays, claiming to deter mice, squirrels and more without traps or poisons. According to their site, the pouches release “all-natural oils” (peppermint, cedarwood, cinnamon) to create a barrier rodents dislike. They advertise a 30-day money-back guarantee and market the product as eco-friendly, pet- and family-safe.

Why I Tried It

With small rodents making unwelcome visits behind the fridge and in the storage boxes, I was ready to ditch snap traps and harsh chemicals. Sofyre’s “natural alternative” pitch sounded ideal… it would avoid poisons, still smell alright, and maybe finally stop the incursions.

My Experience Using It

When I first set up the Sofyre pouches, I placed one under the kitchen sink where I’d previously seen droppings, and another in the garage near some crunched insulation. At first, the peppermint scent was strong and fresh… it filled the space quickly and I thought: maybe this will work.

Within the first 3 days, I didn’t see a mouse, so I felt optimistic. But by week one, the scent had faded significantly, and sure enough, I found fresh droppings in the same spot. It didn’t seem like a barrier. Thinking maybe I needed the spray version too, I ordered that. Its instructions required regular re-application and careful placement near entry points, which I did.

After two weeks of combined use (pouches + spray), I saw some reduction in mouse activity… not full elimination. The chewed wiring behind a router was still present. I also noticed the scent in the garage weakened fast, and I had to reseal the pouch.

In short: yes, the scent was pleasant and maybe did something, but it did not fully solve my rodent problem. I’d say it gave me slightly better control of the smell and maybe delayed activity, but for price and promise, it really fell short.

Pros

  • Pleasant peppermint + cedar scent (better than chemical traps)
  • Safe to place around kids/pets (as advertised)
  • Non-poison approach is appealing

Cons

  • Doesn’t reliably stop or eliminate mice… just delays or reduces activity
  • Scent fades quicker than expected, requiring re-application
  • Marketing claims exceed the real-world results I and others found
  • Website heavy on hype and light on specifics

Is It a Scam?

No, they are selling a real product, and the design (peppermint pouches, essential oil spray) is valid in concept. But yes, it borders on overhyped. For those expecting a full “mice gone in days” solution, the effectiveness is modest and not proven long-term. It becomes part of a pest control strategy rather than a standalone fix.

Where to Buy & Price Point

Sofyre’s official website lists the Mouse Repellent Pouches at $39.99 on sale (original ~$69.99) according to their listing. The spray version is listed for ~$20. Be aware: since the brand appears primarily online, returns and warranty may be less straightforward than established pest control brands.

Alternatives

  • Stay Away Rodent Repellent
  • Fresh Cab Botanical Rodent Repellent Pouches
  • Grandpa Gus’s Mouse Repellent Spray
  • Bonide Mouse Magic Repellent Packs

Conclusion: Would I Recommend It?

If you’re looking for a low-toxicity, mild scent barrier and you don’t mind managing expectations, then yes, you could try Sofyre. But if your priority is full rodent control or elimination, I’d say no: I wouldn’t recommend counting on this product alone. For the price and promise, there are alternatives with better independent reviews and less marketing fluff.

In other words: fine as part of a broader rodent management plan, but don’t expect it to be your one-stop plug-and-play fix for mice.
