Topacme Night Light Projector Review: Worth Buying or Skipping It? I Tried It!

By Nora Aug3,2026

I have a weakness for cozy room gadgets, especially the kind that promise to make an ordinary bedroom feel a little more relaxing. There is something about soft lighting and ambient projections that instantly makes a space feel warmer, so when I came across the Topacme Night Light Projector, I couldn’t resist giving it a try.

The interchangeable projection discs and colourful galaxy images looked incredible in the product photos, and I loved the idea of transforming a plain ceiling into something that felt a little more magical (pun intended… although we’ve agreed to retire that word, so let’s just say special). I was genuinely excited to see if it could create the same atmosphere at home.

Key Takeaways

  • Very easy to set up.
  • Comes with multiple interchangeable projection discs.
  • The flexible neck makes positioning simple.
  • Projection quality is much softer than advertised.
  • Images often appear blurry instead of sharp.
  • Works best in a completely dark room.
  • Customer support appears inconsistent based on many buyer experiences.
  • I wouldn’t buy it again.

What Is the Topacme Night Light Projector?

The Topacme Night Light Projector is a compact USB-powered projector designed to cast decorative images onto your walls or ceiling. Instead of projecting moving stars, it uses interchangeable image discs featuring galaxies, planets, jellyfish, flowers, auroras, and other designs to create different moods.

Its flexible gooseneck allows you to angle the projector almost anywhere, making it suitable for bedrooms, children’s rooms, gaming setups, or simply creating a relaxing atmosphere before bed.

Why I Bought It

The projection discs immediately caught my attention. I liked the fact that I wasn’t limited to one effect because I could easily swap between galaxies, ocean creatures, planets, and several other designs depending on my mood. It looked like one of those small purchases that could completely change the feel of a room without spending hundreds on fancy lighting.

At least, that’s what I was hoping.

My Experience Using the Topacme Night Light Projector

Setting everything up couldn’t have been much easier. Since it runs through USB, I simply plugged it in, selected one of the projection discs, bent the flexible neck toward my ceiling, and turned off the lights.

The setup took longer to admire on the box than it did to actually install. The first projection wasn’t terrible… It just wasn’t what I had been expecting. After looking at the promotional photos, I genuinely thought the images would appear crisp, vibrant, and almost three-dimensional across my ceiling. Instead, the projection looked much softer, and some of the finer details blended together once the image was enlarged.

I tried moving the projector closer… Then farther away. I also adjusted the angle and experimented with different projection discs because I assumed maybe one design simply looked better than another.

Some definitely looked nicer than others, but none of them gave me the sharp, high-definition effect shown in the advertisements.

The jellyfish slide was probably my favorite because the softer projection actually suited the underwater look, but even then it felt more like a pleasant mood light than an immersive projector.

That was probably the biggest lesson I learned while using it. If you go into this expecting a decorative night light, you’ll probably enjoy it much more than someone expecting a miniature home planetarium.

The flexible neck was one feature I genuinely appreciated because positioning the projector was effortless. Instead of stacking books underneath it or trying to balance it at awkward angles, I could simply bend the neck until the image landed where I wanted.

Changing the discs was also fairly straightforward, although I found myself wishing the images looked a little more vibrant once they reached the ceiling.

After spending more time with it, I started reading other customer reviews because I couldn’t shake the feeling that my expectations had been completely different from what I actually received.

To my surprise, many buyers had reached the same conclusion. A lot of people mentioned that the advertisements made the projections appear significantly brighter and sharper than they looked in real life. Others also shared frustrating experiences with customer service, particularly when trying to return the product or resolve issues after purchase.

That honestly made my own experience make a lot more sense. I don’t think the projector is completely unusable because it does create a relaxing atmosphere in a dark room, but it never reached the level of quality I expected after seeing the promotional images. Once the novelty wore off, I found myself using it less and less because the projection simply wasn’t impressive enough to keep coming back to.

What I Loved

  • Quick and simple setup.
  • USB powered.
  • Flexible gooseneck is genuinely useful.
  • Several interchangeable projection discs.
  • Creates a relaxing atmosphere in a dark room.

What I Didn’t Love

  • Projection quality isn’t nearly as sharp as advertised.
  • Images often appear soft or blurry.
  • Marketing photos set unrealistic expectations.
  • Some projection discs look much better than others.
  • Customer service doesn’t inspire much confidence based on many buyer experiences.

Product Claims vs Reality

Claim: Stunning HD projections.

Reality: The images were pleasant enough, but they looked much softer and less detailed than the advertisements suggested.

Claim: Creates an immersive atmosphere.

Reality: It definitely adds ambiance to a dark room, but I wouldn’t describe it as immersive. It’s more of a decorative night light than a projector that completely transforms the room.

Claim: Multiple projection options.

Reality: This part is accurate. Having several interchangeable discs keeps things interesting, even if the image quality itself is inconsistent.

Is It Worth the Price?

For me, no. The projector isn’t terrible, but the advertisements raised my expectations far beyond what the product actually delivered. If the promotional photos had been a little more realistic, I probably would have judged it less harshly.

Instead, I kept comparing what I saw on my ceiling to what I thought I had bought, and those two things never really matched.

Who I Think Will Love It

This projector may be worth considering if you:

  • Want a simple decorative night light.
  • Enjoy soft ambient lighting.
  • Are buying it for a child’s bedroom.
  • Don’t mind slightly blurry projections.

Who Should Skip It

I’d skip it if you:

  • Expect the projections to look exactly like the advertisements.
  • Want crisp, detailed images.
  • Are looking for a premium home planetarium experience.
  • Expect excellent customer support if something goes wrong.

Alternatives

  • BlissLights Sky Lite Evolve
  • Sega Toys Homestar Flux Planetarium
  • Rossetta Galaxy Projector
  • Pococo Galaxy Star Projector
  • Astronaut Galaxy Projector by Cadrim

Conclusion

I really wanted the Topacme Night Light Projector to become one of those fun little purchases that completely changed the atmosphere of my bedroom. On paper, it had everything I was looking for: interchangeable projection discs, flexible positioning, and a simple USB-powered design.

Unfortunately, the actual experience never lived up to the advertisements. While it does create a pleasant, relaxing glow in a dark room, the projections looked much softer and blurrier than I expected, making the marketing images feel far more impressive than the product itself.

Would I buy it again?

No. The concept is great, but I expected much better image quality for what was advertised.

Would I recommend it?

Only if you treat it as a simple decorative night light rather than a high-definition projector. If you’re hoping your ceiling will look exactly like the listing photos, you’re likely to come away disappointed.
