Can the Rhykin GroomPro Really Replace Regular Grooming Sessions? I Tried It on My Dog (Review)

By Nora Jun11,2025

Pet grooming has always been a bit of a hassle in my home, especially when it comes to shedding. Between expensive grooming appointments and fur on every surface, I was ready to try anything that could make grooming less of a chore. That’s when I came across the Rhykin GroomPro Brush. It promised a gentle, efficient de-shedding experience with just a few swipes. I figured, why not?

Here’s what actually happened when I used it on my fur-shedding dog for three weeks.

What Is the Rhykin GroomPro Brush?

The Rhykin GroomPro Brush is marketed as a professional-grade grooming tool for dogs and cats. It’s designed to reduce shedding, detangle fur, and promote a healthy coat without irritating your pet’s skin. Its main selling point is the curved, stainless-steel blade combined with a comfort-grip handle, meant to mimic the feel of a massage while removing loose hair.

How It Claims to Work

According to the brand, the GroomPro uses a fine, curved blade to reach the undercoat and lift away loose fur without pulling or tugging. The brush is supposedly suitable for both short- and long-haired pets and helps reduce shedding by up to 95% with regular use.

The ergonomic handle is intended to reduce hand fatigue, making it easier to keep up with grooming at home.

My Experience Using It

I used the Rhykin GroomPro on my medium-sized mixed breed dog, who sheds a lot year-round. The brush came ready to use, no assembly or fiddling required. First impressions were solid: the grip felt comfortable, and the metal bristles weren’t too sharp or flimsy.

During the first session, I noticed it was pulling up quite a bit of fur with each pass, especially from his sides and lower back. The brush didn’t seem to bother him at all as he actually relaxed into it like he was getting a light massage. That alone made it easier to finish a full brushing without drama.

I used it every few days for three weeks. It definitely helped reduce the amount of fur left on my floors and couch. However, I wouldn’t say it worked miracles. It didn’t eliminate shedding entirely (obviously), and it took some time to get through thick patches without overbrushing the same area.

One minor gripe: while cleaning the brush wasn’t hard, it did get a little clogged with undercoat fur every few minutes, so I had to pause and clear it out regularly. Still, it was a far better experience than struggling with a cheap, ineffective brush or waiting weeks for a grooming appointment.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Genuinely reduces loose fur with regular use
  • Gentle on the skin, my dog didn’t resist at all
  • Comfortable to hold and use
  • Good build quality for the price

Cons

  • Doesn’t eliminate shedding (despite bold claims)
  • Requires frequent clearing while brushing
  • May not be ideal for super short-haired dogs
  • No dramatic improvement in coat health, just maintenance

Where to Buy & Price

The Rhykin GroomPro Brush is available on Amazon, Walmart, and occasionally via flash deal sites. Prices range from $19.99–$29.99, depending on the platform and current discounts.

Alternatives

  • FURminator deShedding Tool
  • Hertzko Self-Cleaning Slicker Brush
  • DakPets Deshedding Brush

Would I Recommend It?

Yes, but with realistic expectations. The Rhykin GroomPro won’t transform your dog’s coat overnight or replace a groomer, but it’s a solid, no-fuss brush for regular shedding maintenance. It’s great if you want something affordable, easy to use, and effective enough to make a noticeable difference in fur around the house.

Would I buy it again? Yes. It’s not revolutionary, but it works well enough to earn a spot in my weekly pet care routine.
