I Used Brunae Body Tanning Oil for Weeks — My Personal & Honest Review

By Nora Dec19,2025

I picked up the Brunae Body Tanning Oil hoping for an easy, glowy tan without streaks or that overly greasy feel most tanning oils have. The branding made it look luxe and skin-loving, so I was curious if it would actually deliver or just look good on Instagram.

What Is Brunae Body Tanning Oil?

Brunae Body Tanning Oil is a cosmetic tanning oil marketed to enhance natural sun tanning while moisturizing the skin. It’s positioned as a glow-boosting oil rather than a self-tanner, meaning it doesn’t stain the skin instantly but claims to deepen and enhance your tan over time while keeping skin hydrated and shiny.

Why I Bought It

I wanted something that would give me a subtle, even glow, especially for legs and arms, without orange tones or patchiness. I wasn’t looking for dramatic color, just that “healthy skin in the sun” look. Brunae seemed like it was meant exactly for that.

My Experience Using It

When it arrived, my first impression was honestly good. The bottle felt decent, and the oil itself looked lightweight rather than thick or sticky. I remember opening it and immediately checking the scent, it smelled pleasant, not overpowering, which was a relief because tanning oils can sometimes be nauseatingly strong.

The first time I used it, I applied it to clean, dry skin before heading out. The oil spread easily and gave my skin an immediate sheen. What I liked right away was that it didn’t feel heavy or suffocating. My skin looked glossy, smooth, and well-moisturized rather than greasy.

After a few uses, I did notice my skin looking slightly deeper in tone, not dramatically darker, but more warmed and even. It wasn’t an instant tan by any means, and it definitely relies on sun exposure to do anything at all. If you’re expecting color indoors or overnight, this isn’t that product.

That said, there were frustrations. The glow fades quickly once washed off, so whatever progress you make feels temporary. I also noticed that if I applied too much, my skin stayed slick longer than I liked, especially in hot weather. And while it enhanced my tan a bit, the results were subtle enough that I kept questioning whether it was really worth the price.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Lightweight, easy-to-spread oil
  • Gives skin an immediate glossy, hydrated look
  • Doesn’t streak or stain clothing
  • No orange or fake tan tones

Cons

  • Very subtle tanning results
  • Requires sun exposure to work at all
  • Glow is temporary and washes off
  • Can feel oily if over-applied
  • Price feels high for what it delivers

Is It a Scam?

I wouldn’t call Brunae Body Tanning Oil a scam, but I also don’t think it lives up to the expectations the marketing sets. It doesn’t magically tan you, and it won’t replace a self-tanner. If you understand that it’s mainly a glow oil with mild tanning enhancement, it does what it says, just not in an impressive way.

Alternatives to Consider

  • Hawaiian Tropic Tanning Oil
  • Australian Gold Accelerating Lotion
  • Bondi Sands Tanning Oil
  • Bali Body Dry Oil SPF

Conclusion: Would I Recommend It?

Honestly, only selectively. If you want a nice-smelling, hydrating oil that makes your skin look glossy in the sun, Brunae is fine. But if you’re buying it expecting real tanning results or long-lasting color, you’ll probably be disappointed. For the price, I think there are better options that deliver more noticeable results.
