Is Cellu Crepey Skin Cream Worth It? My Full & Honest Review

By Nora Sep20,2025

If you’ve ever looked down at your arms, chest, or legs and noticed that thin, papery texture we call “crepey skin,” you know how frustrating it can be. When I first saw ads for Cellu Crepey Skin Cream, it sounded like the perfect solution… smooth, firm, and tighten aging or thinning skin without expensive treatments. But after actually trying it, I quickly learned that not all that glitters is gold.

What Is Cellu Crepey Skin Cream?

Cellu Crepey Skin Cream is a topical moisturizer marketed as a solution for thinning, crepey, and sagging skin. It claims to hydrate deeply, restore elasticity, and visibly firm the skin over time. It’s often advertised as an “at-home alternative” to expensive dermatology treatments, usually priced around $40–$60 per jar depending on where you buy it.

Why I Bought It

I bought Cellu Crepey Skin Cream because I was tired of layering on regular lotions that didn’t seem to make any real difference. My upper arms and neck were starting to show that loose, crinkly texture, and I wanted something that went beyond just surface hydration. The way the brand positioned it… like it was specially designed for this exact problem… hooked me into giving it a shot.

My Experience Using It

When the cream first arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by the packaging… it looked like a premium skincare product. The texture was lightweight, not greasy, and absorbed quickly into my skin. The scent was faint and clean, which I appreciated since I’m not a fan of heavily perfumed creams.

In the first few days, my skin definitely felt softer and more hydrated. It gave a temporary plumping effect that made my arms and legs look a little smoother, almost like a good body butter would. I liked how quickly it absorbed because it meant I could get dressed without waiting forever for it to sink in.

But here’s where my disappointment set in. After a few weeks of daily use, I wasn’t seeing the kind of tightening or firming that the ads made me expect. My skin looked moisturized, yes, but the “crepey” texture wasn’t significantly reduced. It felt more like a high-quality lotion than a specialized treatment. I also noticed that if I skipped a day, the softening effect pretty much disappeared, which told me it wasn’t making long-term changes.

Another frustration was the price. At $50-ish a jar, it runs out pretty quickly if you’re using it on large areas like arms, thighs, and chest. That made it feel like an expensive habit without delivering enough payoff.

So overall, while it made my skin feel nice and smooth in the short term, it didn’t live up to the big promises of transforming crepey skin.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Lightweight, non-greasy formula
  • Absorbs quickly and feels pleasant on the skin
  • Provides temporary softness and hydration
  • Clean, subtle scent

Cons

  • Expensive for what it is
  • Works more like a regular lotion than a targeted treatment
  • Effects fade quickly if you stop using it
  • No significant tightening or reduction of crepey skin

Is It a Scam?

I wouldn’t call Cellu Crepey Skin Cream an outright scam… it is a functional moisturizer. But it’s marketed in a way that makes it sound like a miracle solution for crepey skin, and in my experience (and many other users’), it doesn’t live up to that hype.

Alternatives

If you’re looking for real improvements in crepey or thinning skin, here are some proven alternatives:

  • Gold Bond Crepe Corrector
  • Medix 5.5 Retinol + Ferulic Acid Cream
  • StriVectin Crepe Control Body Cream
  • Eucerin Advanced Repair Lotion

Conclusion: Would I Recommend It?

If what you want is a light, pleasant body cream that hydrates well, Cellu Crepey Skin Cream fits the bill. But if you’re buying it with hopes of dramatically reducing crepey skin, you’ll likely be disappointed. For me, the price just wasn’t worth what is essentially a fancy moisturizer. I wouldn’t repurchase it, especially with better and more affordable alternatives out there.
