I originally bought the eufy Security Video Doorbell S330 because I wanted to know who was showing up at my door when I wasn’t home.
What convinced me to choose this one over dozens of other options was much simpler: I was tired of seeing doorbell cameras that seemed affordable until you realised half the features were locked behind a monthly subscription.

What is the Eufy Security Video Doorbell S330?
The eufy Security Video Doorbell S330 is a battery-powered smart doorbell camera that records visitors, detects motion, sends alerts to your phone, and stores footage locally through eufy’s HomeBase system.
One of its biggest selling points is the dual-camera design. In addition to the main camera that monitors visitors, there’s a second downward-facing camera designed to watch packages left at your doorstep. The system also offers facial recognition, package detection, two-way audio, and local video storage without requiring a recurring subscription for basic functionality.
Why I Tried It
Package deliveries were becoming more frequent, and I wanted a better way to monitor both visitors and deliveries while I was away. The package camera was what initially caught my attention.
Most video doorbells focus entirely on whoever is standing at the door. The S330’s second camera seemed like a genuinely useful feature rather than just another marketing gimmick.
The promise of local storage without monthly fees also made it much easier to justify the upfront cost.
My Experience Using It
Installation was easier than I expected. I’m always sceptical when companies advertise something as “easy to install,” but in this case, the setup process was fairly straightforward. Once connected to the HomeBase, the app guided me through most of the process without much frustration.
The video quality was one of the first things I noticed. During the day, footage looked sharp and detailed enough to clearly identify visitors and deliveries. Faces were easy to recognise, and package monitoring worked surprisingly well thanks to the secondary camera.
The package camera ended up being much more useful than I expected.
There were several occasions where delivery drivers left packages in unusual positions that would have been partially hidden from a traditional doorbell camera. Having that additional viewing angle gave me a better view of what was actually left at the door.

The facial recognition feature was another pleasant surprise. After some time, it became reasonably good at distinguishing familiar visitors from strangers. The notifications felt more useful because I wasn’t constantly checking alerts for people I already knew.
The battery life was generally good, although it depended heavily on activity levels. During periods with frequent motion detection, I definitely noticed battery drain happening faster than the marketing materials might suggest.
The biggest frustration I experienced was occasional notification inconsistency. Most alerts arrived quickly, but there were a few instances where notifications felt slightly delayed. It wasn’t common enough to become a major issue, but it happened often enough that I noticed.
Build Quality & Feel
The S330 feels solid and well-built. It has a premium appearance without looking overly flashy, and the construction feels durable enough to handle outdoor conditions. Once installed, it blends into the exterior fairly well instead of drawing attention to itself.
The HomeBase unit is similarly simple and unobtrusive.
Pros & Cons

Cons

Product Claims vs. Reality
For the most part, the S330 delivers on its core promises.
The dual-camera system genuinely adds value, local storage works as advertised, and the video quality is strong enough for most homeowners.
Where expectations should be adjusted is battery life. While battery performance is good overall, high-traffic areas with frequent motion events will naturally require more frequent charging than marketing estimates may suggest.
No smart camera is completely immune to occasional missed or delayed notifications, either, and the S330 is no exception.
Is It a Scam?
Not at all. The S330 provides the features it’s advertised to provide, and one of its biggest advantages is that many functions remain available without requiring a monthly subscription.
If anything, that’s one of the reasons it stands out in a crowded market.
How to Use
I found the package detection and facial recognition features became more useful the longer I used the system.
Taking time to properly configure activity zones and notification settings also helped reduce unnecessary alerts while keeping important ones.
Alternatives to Consider
- Ring Battery Doorbell Plus
- Arlo Video Doorbell 2K
- Google Nest Doorbell
- Reolink Video Doorbell WiFi
Conclusion — Would I Recommend It?
Yes, especially for people who dislike recurring subscription fees. The dual-camera setup isn’t just a gimmick; the video quality is strong, and the local storage approach makes the system feel more cost-effective over time.
Is it perfect? No. But after using it, I found myself appreciating the practical features far more than the flashy marketing ones.
The package camera alone solved a problem that many traditional doorbell cameras still haven’t fully addressed, and that ended up being one of the biggest reasons I kept it installed.
