My Honest WiMiUS S27 Mini Projector Review: Is It Worth Buying?

By Nora Jun8,2026

I originally bought the WiMiUS S27 because I wanted something small and inexpensive for casual movie nights. I wasn’t expecting much from a mini projector at this price point, but I figured if it could deliver a decent picture, I’d be happy.

What surprised me most was how often I actually ended up using it.

What is the WiMiUS S27 Projector?

The WiMiUS S27 is a compact portable projector with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, automatic keystone correction, and a built-in adjustable stand that can rotate up to 270 degrees. It supports 1080p content but uses a native 720p resolution panel and is designed for bedrooms, apartments, dorm rooms, and occasional outdoor movie nights.

One of its biggest advantages is portability. It weighs very little and doesn’t require much space to set up.

Why I Tried It

I wasn’t trying to build a fancy home theatre. I simply wanted something that could give me a bigger screen experience without spending on a television. The adjustable stand and compact size immediately appealed to me because I knew I’d probably move it between rooms.

I also liked the idea of projecting movies onto the bedroom ceiling.

My Experience Using It

The setup was incredibly simple. Within minutes, I had the projector running and projecting onto the wall. The built-in stand turned out to be one of my favourite features because I didn’t need to buy extra accessories just to adjust the angle.

For movie nights in a dark room, I honestly enjoyed it much more than I expected. The picture looked surprisingly good considering the price, and the experience of watching movies on a giant screen made everything feel more fun. It wasn’t cinema quality, but it didn’t need to be.

I especially loved using it in the bedroom. Being able to angle the projector toward the ceiling felt oddly luxurious for such an inexpensive device.

Where I started noticing compromises was in brightness. The projector performs best in darker rooms. During the daytime, or with too many lights on, the image loses a lot of its impact. That’s simply the reality of many budget mini projectors.

The speakers were another area where I felt average was probably the best description. They worked fine for casual use, but connecting a Bluetooth speaker made a noticeable difference.

I also think some of the marketing around “1080p” can confuse buyers. While it accepts Full HD content, the native resolution is actually 720p.

Still, considering what I paid, I came away pleasantly surprised.

Build Quality & Feel

The projector feels lightweight but not flimsy.

It has a clean, modern design, and the adjustable stand makes it feel much more premium than many cheap projectors I’ve seen. Its compact size also makes it easy to store when not in use.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Extremely portable
  • Useful adjustable stand
  • Easy setup
  • Great for bedrooms and movie nights
  • Good value for the price
  • Bluetooth connectivity

Cons

  • Native resolution is only 720p
  • Performs best in dark rooms
  • Built-in speakers are average
  • Not ideal for competitive gaming
  • Some units may have focus inconsistencies

Product Claims vs. Reality

For the most part, the S27 delivers what it promises.

The portability is excellent, the setup is simple, and the adjustable stand is genuinely useful. The image quality is good enough for movies and casual streaming.

Where expectations need adjusting are resolution and brightness. This is not a true native 1080p projector, and it definitely performs better at night than during the day.

Is It a Scam?

No. The WiMiUS S27 does exactly what I’d expect from a budget mini projector.

The mistake would be expecting premium projector performance from something designed to be affordable and portable.

How to Use

I found the projector worked best with the lights off and paired with an external Bluetooth speaker. For bedroom use, the ceiling projection feature ended up being much more enjoyable than I expected.

Alternatives to Consider

  • Epson EpiqVision Flex CO-W01
  • XGIMI MoGo 3 Pro
  • Anker Nebula Capsule 3
  • HY300 Smart Projector

Conclusion — Would I Recommend It?

Yes… provided you understand what you’re buying. The WiMiUS S27 isn’t trying to compete with premium projectors that cost several times more.

What it offers instead is convenience, portability, and a surprisingly enjoyable movie experience for the price.

I bought it expecting a gadget I’d occasionally pull out. Instead, it became one of those purchases I used far more than I originally planned.
