When I first bought the Edifier D32, I genuinely thought I’d found the perfect tabletop speaker.
It sounded fantastic, looked beautiful sitting in my home, and quickly became the speaker I reached for every single day. If you’d asked me during the first few weeks, I probably would’ve recommended it to anyone.
Unfortunately, that didn’t last. Over time, it developed problems that completely changed how I felt about it, and today, I honestly struggle to recommend it.
What Is the Edifier D32?
The Edifier D32 is a premium tabletop wireless speaker that supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi streaming through Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, and high-resolution audio playback. It also features a retro-inspired design with a wooden cabinet, built-in amplifiers, and multiple speaker drivers designed to deliver room-filling stereo sound despite its compact footprint.
On paper, it’s positioned as more than just another Bluetooth speaker. It’s meant to be an attractive home audio system that combines stylish design with premium sound quality.
Why I Bought It
I wanted something that sounded better than the average portable Bluetooth speaker but didn’t require setting up a full bookshelf speaker system.
The D32 seemed like the perfect middle ground. I loved the retro aesthetic, the reviews praised its sound quality, and I liked having the flexibility of both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi streaming.
It wasn’t exactly cheap, but it looked like one of those purchases I’d enjoy for years.
My Experience Using It
For a while, I absolutely loved this speaker. The sound was rich, detailed, and much fuller than I expected from something this size. Vocals sounded clean, instruments had plenty of separation, and it easily filled my room without ever sounding strained. Even at higher volumes, it remained surprisingly composed.
It also looked fantastic sitting on my shelf. The retro-inspired design gave it far more personality than the typical black plastic Bluetooth speakers you see everywhere.
Then the Bluetooth issues started. At first, I thought it was my phone. Every now and then, the connection would randomly drop before reconnecting again. It wasn’t frequent enough to ruin the experience, so I ignored it.
Over time, though, it became much worse.
Eventually, the speaker began disconnecting almost like clockwork… roughly every twenty minutes. It didn’t matter which phone I used, how close I was, or how many times I paired and unpaired the device. I restarted everything, reset the speaker, updated my phone, tried different streaming apps, and searched through countless forums hoping someone had discovered a fix.
Nothing worked. Just when I thought the Bluetooth issue was bad enough, another problem appeared. Whenever the speaker was plugged into a wall outlet, it started producing an incredibly loud buzzing noise. It wasn’t subtle background interference… it was loud enough to immediately grab your attention and completely ruin the listening experience.
That was honestly the moment my opinion of the D32 changed. A premium speaker shouldn’t develop problems that make you hesitate to use it.
Sound Quality
Ironically, this is still the speaker’s biggest strength. When everything is working properly, it sounds genuinely excellent. The bass is controlled without becoming overwhelming, vocals are crisp, and the overall tuning feels balanced enough to suit almost every genre I listened to. Whether it was acoustic music, podcasts, jazz, or modern pop, I rarely found myself wishing it sounded different.
That’s what makes the reliability issues even more frustrating. The hardware is capable of producing beautiful sound. I just can’t consistently enjoy it anymore.

Product Claims vs. Reality
Edifier markets the D32 as a premium wireless speaker with stable wireless connectivity, high-resolution audio support, and effortless streaming.
From a sound quality perspective, I think those claims are justified. From a reliability standpoint, my experience tells a different story.
A Bluetooth speaker shouldn’t disconnect every twenty minutes, and it certainly shouldn’t develop a loud electrical buzzing sound during normal use. Those problems completely overshadow what is otherwise a very capable audio system.
Is It a Scam?
No. I don’t think Edifier intentionally misled anyone, and when the D32 works properly, it’s easy to understand why it receives so much praise. My issue is reliability.
After researching further, I found that while many owners are extremely happy with their speakers, there are also scattered reports online describing Bluetooth instability, firmware glitches, and occasional electrical noise or humming on certain Edifier models. My experience unfortunately falls into that group.
If these problems never develop, you’ll probably love this speaker. If they do, they’re significant enough to completely change the ownership experience.
Customer Feedback
Most owners praise the D32 for its impressive sound quality, elegant design, and premium feel. It’s often described as outperforming many Bluetooth speakers in its price range, particularly for indoor listening.
However, I also came across users discussing intermittent Bluetooth issues, connection instability after firmware updates, and occasional buzzing or interference depending on their setup. While these complaints aren’t nearly as common as the positive reviews, they’re frequent enough that I no longer think my experience is an isolated one.
That balance between excellent sound and inconsistent reliability mirrors my own experience almost perfectly.

Conclusion — Would I Recommend It?
That’s a difficult question because my answer has changed over time. When I first bought the D32, I would’ve recommended it without hesitation. The sound quality genuinely impressed me, and it quickly became one of my favourite pieces of tech.
Today, I can’t say the same. The Bluetooth disconnections have become so predictable that I almost expect them, and the loud buzzing whenever it’s plugged into power completely undermines what should be a premium listening experience.
That’s what makes this review so frustrating to write. The Edifier D32 showed me just how good it could be. It also showed me how quickly reliability problems can outweigh excellent sound quality.
If mine had stayed the way it was on day one, this would’ve been one of the easiest recommendations I’d ever made. Unfortunately, that’s not the speaker I’m living with today.
