By maria Aug13,2024

If you received a notice by mail or email about being eligible for the Cash App and Block Inc. settlement, it’s not a scam. It’s a legit notification about the class action settlement by cash app and block inc.

Cash App customers affected by the data and security problems can receive up to $2,500 as part of a $15 million settlement.

Cash App and Block Inc. Settle $15 Million Lawsuit

Cash App and its parent company, Block Inc., have agreed to pay $15 million to settle a lawsuit alleging they failed to protect user information adequately. The issues mentioned were two different cases. In 2021 and 2022, Cash App and its parent company, Block (based in Oakland, California), were sued for not handling recent security problems well. The lawsuits claimed they didn’t do enough to protect customer information. One issue was a former employee who improperly downloaded user data. Another problem, revealed in 2023, involved someone accessing Cash App accounts using phone numbers linked to those accounts.

Who Is Eligible For Cash App Security Settlement

You’re eligible if you were a Cash App customer and your personal information was accessed without permission or if you had fraudulent withdrawals between August 23, 2018, and August 20 of this year.

How Much Money Can You Get from the Settlement?

The exact amount depends on how many people file claims. You can get up to $2,500 for things like credit monitoring, card replacement, and bank fees. You can also claim up to three hours of lost time at $25 per hour and be reimbursed for transaction losses if you provide proof.

How to Claim Your Share of the Settlement

Consumers affected by the data breaches can now file claims for their portion of the settlement. This could include up to $2,500 to cover any out-of-pocket losses they experienced, though final approval is still pending.

You have until November 18 to submit your claim for the settlement. The final approval of the settlement will be reviewed on December 16.
