Why I Tried It
I mainly wanted something low-maintenance. Traditional mowing gets old very quickly, especially once grass starts growing aggressively during rainy weeks. And while I liked the idea of robotic lawn mowers, I absolutely did not like the idea of installing perimeter wires around the entire yard.
That’s what made the GOAT O500 interesting to me in the first place. The setup looked much simpler than older robotic systems.
My Experience Using It

I also noticed occasional missed strips of grass where the navigation didn’t seem perfectly aligned. That complaint came up repeatedly in user discussions, too. The navigation accuracy honestly feels like the biggest “your mileage may vary” part of this mower. Some days it worked beautifully. Other days it randomly behaved like it temporarily forgot where it lived.
I also noticed that edges still needed occasional manual cleanup with a trimmer. It gets fairly close, but not perfectly clean against every border.
What saved the experience for me overall was convenience. Even with occasional navigation weirdness, the amount of physical mowing I didn’t have to do made the product feel valuable surprisingly quickly.
Build Quality & Feel
The mower feels solid and surprisingly premium in person.
It’s heavier than I expected, and the build quality feels closer to serious outdoor equipment than cheap smart-home tech. The wheels handle uneven ground reasonably well, and the overall design looks modern without trying too hard to look futuristic.
The app interface also felt cleaner than I expected.

The technology is impressive. It’s just not flawless yet.

Conclusion — Would I Recommend It?

But if the lawn is extremely complex, narrow, uneven, or filled with awkward transitions, patience will probably become necessary.
Still, the convenience factor alone is hard to ignore. Once you get used to your grass quietly maintaining itself in the background, going back to traditional mowing suddenly feels extremely primitive.
