I Tried the Shark PowerPro Vacuum — Worth Buying? Honest Reviews

By Nora May25,2026

I swear, vacuum companies market every new vacuum like it’s about to completely transform your life.

“Stronger suction”, “Smarter cleaning”, “Game-changing technology.” Meanwhile, half the time you still end up fighting tangled hair and dragging a heavy machine around the house like exhausted luggage.

So when I bought the Shark PowerPro, my expectations honestly were not that high.

But surprisingly, this ended up being one of the few vacuums that immediately felt easier and less frustrating to use compared to older ones I’ve owned.

What is the Shark PowerPro?

The Shark PowerPro is a cordless stick vacuum designed for everyday floor cleaning, pet hair pickup, carpets and hard floors, and lightweight whole-home use.

Depending on the version, features can include:

  • anti-hair wrap brush rolls
  • detachable handheld mode
  • HEPA filtration
  • LED headlights
  • and multiple power settings.

The biggest appeal, honestly, is convenience. It’s designed to feel lighter, faster, and less annoying than dragging out a giant upright vacuum every time crumbs appear somewhere.

Why I Tried It

I originally started looking for a cordless vacuum because I got tired of dealing with cords constantly, avoiding quick cleanups because dragging the vacuum out felt exhausting, and cleaning hair off brush rolls by hand like some kind of punishment.

I also wanted something lighter. Because some upright vacuums honestly feel like moving furniture around the house.

And after seeing so many positive reviews about Shark vacuums generally, I decided to try the PowerPro.

My Experience Using It

The first thing I noticed immediately was how much more often I cleaned. Which sounds ridiculous…
But convenience genuinely changes behaviour.

Because instead of thinking: “Ugh, I’ll vacuum later,”… I could just grab it quickly and clean small messes immediately.

The cordless design made a huge difference there. The suction also impressed me more than expected. Especially on hard floors. Dust, crumbs, hair, random debris… it handled normal everyday messes pretty well overall.

I was also pleasantly surprised by how well it picked up hair without instantly becoming a tangled disaster.

Because that’s honestly one of my biggest frustrations with vacuums generally.

Now on carpets, performance still felt solid overall, although thicker carpets obviously drained battery faster on higher power settings. And honestly, battery life is probably the biggest area where expectations need to stay realistic.

Because while cordless convenience is amazing… You absolutely sacrifice unlimited runtime. I noticed that heavy cleaning sessions on max power drained the battery much faster than I hoped. For quick daily cleaning? Great. For cleaning an enormous house in one session? Maybe less ideal unless you own extra batteries.

The dustbin also filled fairly quickly during larger cleanups. Not terrible. But definitely something I noticed.

Build Quality & Feel

The Shark PowerPro honestly feels much lighter and easier to manoeuvre than traditional upright vacuums. The swivel steering especially helped around furniture without constantly awkwardly repositioning the vacuum.

And compared to older bulky vacuums, cleaning simply felt:

  • faster
  • smoother
  • and less physically annoying overall.

The controls also felt straightforward instead of overly complicated.

Product Claims vs. Reality

I actually think the Shark PowerPro mostly delivers on:

  • convenience
  • solid everyday suction
  • and easier daily cleaning.

The anti-hair-wrap features especially seemed legitimately useful rather than pure marketing.

But I also think people should keep realistic expectations regarding battery runtime and deep-cleaning power compared to large corded vacuums.

Because physics still exists, unfortunately.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Very convenient cordless design
  • Lightweight and easy to maneuver
  • Strong everyday suction
  • Anti-hair-wrap features actually help
  • Encourages faster daily cleanups
  • Good for hard floors and general household messes

Cons

  • Battery drains faster on max power
  • Dustbin fills fairly quickly
  • Not ideal for huge deep-cleaning sessions
  • Long-term battery longevity may vary
  • Less powerful than some heavy-duty corded vacuums

Is It a Scam?

No, I definitely wouldn’t call the Shark PowerPro a scam. It’s a genuinely practical cordless vacuum that makes everyday cleaning feel easier and more manageable.

But I do think some marketing makes cordless vacuums sound like they completely replace every type of vacuum for every situation.

And to be honest, for huge deep-cleaning jobs, traditional corded vacuums can still outperform them in certain areas.

How to Use

I personally found this worked best for:

  • apartments
  • medium-sized homes
  • pet hair cleanup
  • quick daily cleaning
  • and people who hate dragging heavy vacuums around constantly.

And honestly, using it for smaller, frequent cleanups instead of marathon cleaning sessions made the experience much better overall.

Alternatives to Consider

  • Dyson V15 Detect
  • Tineco PURE ONE S15
  • Shark Stratos Cordless
  • Bissell CleanView XR

Conclusion — Would I Recommend It?

Honestly… yes. Not because it’s some magical life-changing vacuum… but because it made cleaning feel noticeably less annoying.

And that alone matters more than people think. The convenience factor genuinely made me vacuum more often simply because grabbing it felt effortless.

Would I still use a stronger corded vacuum occasionally for deep cleaning? Probably.

But for normal everyday messes and maintaining a cleaner house consistently, I honestly think the Shark PowerPro does a really solid job overall.
