Is the RinseMate Worth Buying? I Finally Tried — Here’s My Honest Review

By Nora Jun13,2026

I’ll be honest, I used to think portable bidets looked unnecessary. Then curiosity got the better of me.

The RinseMate kept appearing everywhere, and after reading about it for the hundredth time, I finally decided to see what all the fuss was about.

I expected a gimmick. What I got was something I ended up liking far more than I expected.

What is the RinseMate Bidet?

The RinseMate is a portable, rechargeable bidet system designed for people who want the benefits of a bidet without installing anything permanently. It uses an electric pump connected to a refillable water container to provide a handheld spray for cleaning after using the toilet.

The entire appeal is convenience. No plumbing, no tools, and no bathroom renovation required.

Why I Bought It

I’ve always been curious about bidets, but I wasn’t interested in replacing my toilet seat or dealing with installation. I also liked the idea of something portable that I could potentially take while traveling.

Mostly though, I just wanted to know whether all the “once you switch, you’ll never go back” people were exaggerating.

Turns out, they may have had a point.

My Experience Using It

The setup couldn’t have been easier. Charge the nozzle, fill the water tank, connect everything, and that’s basically it. The entire process took less time than opening some kitchen appliances.

The first use felt strange. Not bad strange, just different. After a few days though, it started feeling normal. In fact, going back to toilet paper alone suddenly felt surprisingly primitive.

The water pressure was better than I expected from a portable device. I wasn’t expecting full luxury bidet-seat performance, but I also never felt like it was too weak.

What I appreciated most was the flexibility. Since there’s no installation involved, I could move it wherever I wanted. That alone made it much more appealing than permanent bidet attachments.

Of course, there are limitations. You’re still dealing with a water tank, so eventually it needs refilling. And while the pressure was perfectly acceptable for me, people expecting the experience of a high-end built-in bidet with heated water and endless settings may feel underwhelmed.

Build Quality & Feel

The unit feels lightweight but not flimsy. Everything felt straightforward and easy to understand, which I appreciated because I didn’t want another gadget with a complicated instruction manual.

The rechargeable nozzle also held its charge surprisingly well. RinseMate claims up to several weeks between charges depending on usage.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • No installation required
  • Easy setup
  • Portable and travel-friendly
  • Better hygiene than toilet paper alone
  • Rechargeable battery lasts a long time
  • Good water pressure for a portable system

Cons

  • Requires occasional refilling
  • Doesn’t offer heated water
  • Not as luxurious as premium bidet seats
  • Takes up some floor space beside the toilet

Is It a Scam?

No. RinseMate is to be a legitimate product with thousands of customers and generally positive feedback. My experience matched the product’s main promises pretty closely.

Customer Feedback

Most users seem to love the convenience and the feeling of cleanliness the system provides. Many people especially appreciate not having to install anything permanently.

The most common complaints appear to involve shipping delays, occasional missing items, and accessories like the wall mount rather than the cleaning performance itself.

That honestly mirrors my own impression… the concept itself works better than I expected.

Alternatives to Consider

  • Brondell SimpleSpa Bidet Attachment
  • TUSHY Classic Bidet
  • Bio Bidet SlimEdge
  • Portable travel squeeze bottle bidets

Conclusion — Would I Recommend It?

Surprisingly, yes. I bought the RinseMate expecting a novelty purchase. Instead, it became one of those products that quietly worked its way into my routine.

Is it perfect? No. Would I choose it over a high-end heated bidet seat? Probably not.

But for someone who doesn’t want plumbing work, lives in a rental, or simply wants to try the bidet experience without committing to a bathroom remodel, I think it does a pretty good job.

I went into this expecting to laugh at myself for buying it. Instead, I found myself wondering why I waited so long.
