Finding signs of mice in your house will make you buy things you never thought you’d buy. That’s how I ended up with Balancexlite Plus Mouse Rodent Repellent Balls.
The idea sounded perfect. No poison, no traps, no dead rodents to deal with. Just place these little balls around the house and supposedly the mice decide your home is no longer worth visiting.
I wish it were that simple.

What is the Balancexlite Plus Mouse Repellent Balls?
Balancexlite Plus Mouse Rodent Repellent Balls are peppermint-based rodent deterrents designed to keep mice and rats away using strong scents instead of poisons or traps.
They’re marketed as a safer and more humane alternative for people who don’t want to kill rodents or deal with the mess that comes with traditional methods.
Why I Bought It
I honestly just didn’t want to deal with dead mice. As effective as traps may be, I hate checking them. I hate cleaning them. I hate all of it.
So when I came across something that claimed to repel rodents naturally, I figured it was worth trying.
My Experience Using It
The first thing I noticed was the smell. These things are strong. Open the package, and you’ll immediately know they’re there. The area where I placed them smelled heavily of peppermint for several days.

At first, I convinced myself they were working. Mainly because I wanted them to be working. For a few days, I didn’t notice any new signs of activity and started feeling pretty pleased with myself.
Then reality kicked in. I began noticing signs that the mice clearly hadn’t packed their bags and moved out. Maybe they avoided certain spots, maybe they didn’t care at all… I honestly couldn’t tell.
What frustrated me most was how much guesswork was involved. I kept moving the balls around, adding more, replacing older ones, and wondering whether I just hadn’t found the “right” location yet.
Eventually, I came to the conclusion that these might help discourage rodents from certain areas, but they certainly weren’t solving the problem.
Mice that have already settled into your home seem far less impressed by peppermint than the advertisements would have you believe.
Texture, Scent & Feel
The balls themselves are small and easy to place around cupboards, storage areas, and corners.
The peppermint smell is very noticeable at first and gradually fades over time. Personally, I preferred the scent to dealing with chemical rodenticides, although some people may find it overpowering.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- No poison involved
- Easy to place around the house
- Pleasant peppermint scent
- No mess compared to traps
- Humane approach
Cons
- Results can be inconsistent
- Doesn’t eliminate existing infestations
- Requires replacement over time
- Strong scent may not appeal to everyone
- Far less effective than I hoped
Product Claims vs. Reality
I think this is where expectations matter. The marketing makes it sound as though rodents will smell these and immediately decide to leave your home.
That wasn’t my experience.
At best, I think they may help as part of a larger pest-control strategy. But expecting a few scented balls to solve an active mouse problem is probably asking too much.
Is It a Scam?
No. You receive exactly what you paid for.
My issue is more with the expectations these types of products create. Rodent infestations are rarely solved by one product alone, and I think the advertising sometimes oversimplifies that reality.
Customer Feedback
From what I’ve seen, customer experiences seem all over the place. Some people swear these products helped keep mice away, while others say they noticed little to no difference. That honestly didn’t surprise me because rodent problems vary so much from one home to another.
My experience landed somewhere in the middle. I didn’t feel like they made things worse, but I also couldn’t confidently say they solved anything.
Alternatives to Consider
- Fresh Cab Rodent Repellent
- Mighty Mint Rodent Repellent Spray
- Tomcat Press ’N Set Mouse Trap
- Victor Electronic Mouse Trap
Conclusion — Would I Recommend It?
Probably not as a standalone solution. I bought these hoping for an easy answer because, frankly, I didn’t want to deal with traps.
In the end, I learned that mice rarely cooperate with convenient solutions. If you’re looking for something natural to add to your pest-control routine, these may be worth trying.
But if you’re expecting a few peppermint balls to send an eviction notice to an established mouse population, you may end up just having a house that smells nice… with mice still living in it.
