I bought the Veldsen Cooling AC because the advertisements made it look like a compact air conditioner that could cool a room without complicated installation or sky-high electricity bills.
Instead, I ended up with what felt like a slightly upgraded fan. It moved air around, sure, but if you’re expecting genuine air conditioning, I think you’re going to be very disappointed.
What Is the Veldsen Cooling AC?
The Veldsen Cooling AC (also marketed as the Veldsen Cooling Ace) is promoted as a compact portable cooling device that’s supposed to provide fast, energy-efficient cooling without an exhaust hose, refrigerant, or professional installation. The company claims it can cool rooms within minutes while remaining quiet and inexpensive to operate.
The problem is that, despite being advertised as an “air conditioner,” it appears to be an evaporative air cooler rather than a true compressor-based air conditioner. That distinction makes a huge difference in what you can realistically expect.
Why I Bought It
The ads were incredibly convincing. They showed people cooling bedrooms, offices, and living spaces with what looked like a tiny portable AC. It seemed like the perfect solution for hot weather without having to install a window unit or drag around a bulky portable air conditioner.
I genuinely thought I had found a clever alternative to a traditional AC. Looking back, I think I bought into the marketing more than the product itself.
My Experience Using It
When it arrived, I was honestly excited to try it. Setup took almost no time at all, which I’ll happily give it credit for. I filled it, plugged it in, turned it on, and waited for that refreshing blast of cool air the advertisements had promised.
That moment never really came.
Instead of feeling like an air conditioner, it behaved much more like a small desktop fan. Yes, there was airflow, and if I sat directly in front of it, that airflow felt slightly cooler than the surrounding air for a short period. But the second I stepped a few feet away, the effect almost completely disappeared.
The biggest disappointment was that my room never actually became cooler.
I left it running far longer than I probably should have because I kept thinking maybe it just needed more time. It didn’t. The room temperature barely changed, and on particularly humid days, the air actually started feeling more uncomfortable than before.
After a while, I stopped thinking of it as an air conditioner altogether. I started comparing it to the small USB fans people keep on office desks, and honestly, that’s much closer to how it performed.
By the end of my experience, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I’d paid air-conditioner money for something that was essentially a weak personal fan with better marketing.
Design & Ease of Use
I’ll admit the unit itself looks nice. It’s lightweight, compact, and easy to move from one room to another. It also doesn’t require complicated installation, which is probably its biggest advantage.
The controls are simple, and it doesn’t consume nearly as much electricity as a real air conditioner. Unfortunately, low energy use isn’t particularly impressive when the cooling performance is equally limited.

This is where my biggest frustration lies. Veldsen advertises rapid room cooling, powerful performance, and an affordable alternative to traditional air conditioners.
My experience was nowhere close to that. It didn’t noticeably cool my room or replace my air conditioner. It didn’t even come close.
What it did do was blow air directly toward me, which is exactly what I’d expect from a small fan. Independent reviewers have reached similar conclusions, noting that devices sold under the “Cooling Ace” name provide localised airflow rather than genuine room cooling and are often rebranded versions of the same evaporative cooler sold under different names.
Is It a Scam?
I wouldn’t call it a complete scam because the device does turn on, move air, and provide some personal cooling if you’re sitting directly in front of it.
What I do have a problem with is the way it’s marketed.
Calling something an “air conditioner” naturally makes people expect compressor-style cooling that actually lowers a room’s temperature. This doesn’t do that. It behaves much more like a personal evaporative cooler or fan, and that’s a completely different category of product.
I also discovered that nearly identical devices are sold under numerous different brand names with almost identical advertising, product photos, and descriptions. That made me question how unique the product really is.
So no, I don’t think it’s fake. I do think the advertising dramatically oversells what the product is actually capable of.

Once I started reading independent reviews, I realized my experience wasn’t unusual.
Many buyers describe the Veldsen Cooling AC as little more than a personal fan that works only if you’re sitting directly in front of it. Others mention that it struggles in humid environments and falls well short of the room-cooling performance shown in advertisements. Some reviewers have even described it as “just a simple fan with no refrigeration or cooling elements.”
There are positive reviews on the brand’s own website, but I found the independent feedback to be considerably more mixed.
Alternatives to Consider
- A true portable air conditioner with an exhaust hose
- A window air conditioner for small rooms
- A quality tower fan if all you need is airflow
- An evaporative cooler from a well-established brand if you live in a dry climate and understand its limitations
Conclusion — Would I Recommend It?
No. If this had been advertised as a compact personal fan or evaporative cooler, I probably would’ve judged it much more fairly.
But that’s not what convinced me to buy it. I bought it believing I was getting a portable air conditioner, and it simply never delivered that experience. It circulated air, it was easy to use, and it looked decent sitting on my desk, but none of those things made my room noticeably cooler.
For me, the biggest problem wasn’t that it was a terrible fan. It was that it was marketed like an air conditioner, and those are two very different products.
