I never imagined I’d spend this much money on something designed specifically for sleeping. But after too many nights of noise, snoring, and constantly waking up, I finally gave in and bought the Soundcore Sleep A30 Special by Anker.
At first, I thought the whole concept sounded ridiculous. Now I understand why sleep earbuds have such a devoted fanbase.

What is the Soundcore Sleep A30?
The Soundcore Sleep A30 Special are sleep-focused earbuds designed specifically for overnight use. They combine active noise cancellation, passive noise blocking, adaptive snore masking, sleep sounds, and sleep tracking in an ultra-low-profile design meant to be comfortable even for side sleepers.
Unlike regular earbuds, these are built with sleeping, not music quality, as the priority.
Why I Bought It
Sleep had become frustrating. Between outside noise, random disturbances, and the occasional snoring situation, I found myself waking up more often than I wanted.
I’d tried white noise machines and regular earbuds before, but sleeping with traditional earbuds always became uncomfortable after a few hours.
The promise of something made specifically for sleeping was what convinced me to try these.
My Experience Using It
The first thing I noticed was how small they are. Compared to regular earbuds, these sit much flatter inside the ear. I’m a side sleeper, so that mattered a lot. Most earbuds eventually start digging into my ears once my head hits the pillow, but these were surprisingly comfortable.
The noise reduction impressed me too. No, they don’t create complete silence. If someone expects total silence, they’ll probably be disappointed.
But they absolutely softened the background noise enough that falling asleep became easier. Traffic sounds, fans, and general household noise felt less distracting.

Battery life was also better than I expected. I never woke up with dead earbuds halfway through the night, which was one of my biggest concerns. The charging case easily lasted several nights between charges.
That said, these aren’t perfect. For almost $200, they’re expensive. Very expensive.
And while I liked the sleep tracking features, I honestly didn’t find myself paying much attention to the reports after the first week. They felt more like bonus features than something I’d actually rely on. Even some reviewers have questioned how accurate the sleep tracking really is.
I also don’t think everyone needs these. If you already sleep perfectly fine, this probably isn’t money you need to spend.
But if noise regularly ruins your sleep, I can understand the need.
Build Quality & Feel
These feel incredibly lightweight.
Nothing about them feels cheap, and Anker clearly put a lot of thought into comfort. The soft tips and low-profile design are probably the biggest reasons I kept using them. Even after several nights, they never felt intrusive.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Extremely comfortable for sleeping
- Great for side sleepers
- Battery easily lasts overnight
- Effective noise reduction
- Lightweight design
- Case lasts several nights
- Became part of my bedtime routine surprisingly quickly
Cons
- Expensive
- Sleep tracking wasn’t very important to me
- Doesn’t completely block all noise
- Audio quality isn’t the main focus
- Probably overkill for people who already sleep well
Is It a Scam?
Not at all. These are premium sleep earbuds, and they perform like premium sleep earbuds.
The only real question is whether sleep earbuds are worth $200 to you personally.
Customer Feedback
Most people seem to love the comfort and overnight battery life. Side sleepers especially seem happy with the design.
The biggest hesitation people seem to have is the price, which I completely understand. That was my hesitation too.
How to Use
I enjoyed these most when I stopped treating them like regular earbuds. For me, they worked best with soft sleep sounds or white noise rather than music.
Alternatives to Consider
- Ozlo Sleepbuds
- Bose Sleepbuds II (if you can find them)
- Loop Quiet Earplugs
- Soundcore Sleep A20
Conclusion — Would I Recommend It?
Yes, but only for the right person. I think these solve a very specific problem. If noise regularly interrupts your sleep, I can honestly understand spending the money.
But if you’re already sleeping fine, I don’t think these will suddenly turn you into a completely different person. For me, they became one of those purchases I initially questioned and eventually stopped wanting to sleep without.
And that’s probably the best compliment I can give them.
